I've somehow found some time lately to do some new artwork. The Mermaid painting was a house warming gift to one of my best friends, and the other was just a drawing of Brigid for Imbolc.I took pictures as I progressed so I could show my process and different steps.
So alas, I had to come to grips with the fact that I may not have in my possession a beautifully antique - turned modern style Victorian sofa.. YET. Sometime during my weeks of sofa stalking on Ebay, late nights of researching Rococo to Victorian style furniture, learning how to tell the difference between Louis XIII style and Queen Anne style carvings, and studying the science behind dating pieces based on the curvature of their supporting legs.. I fell in love. I am in love with 18th century furniture, and for the artistic beauty that this unexpected artform is adorned with. So I vow to one day own one of these insanely unique and amazing masterpieces.. but sadly, today is not that day. Tomorrow isn't looking good either.
stay artsy my friends,Am I the only one that sees other artists' art studios on Facebook and Pinterest and instantly transform into the epitome of jealousy?Found here, with 21 other gorgeous art studios that make you say FML I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YALL BUT I'm a little lacking on the 'studio' department. Or any kind of designated art space for that matter. My 'art studio' consists of a 9'x7' sun room, which I share with a large amount of two year old toys. IF I EVER NEED ANY EXTRA SPACE I will also utilize the kitchen counters, or the living room floor. And if it's not 200 degrees outside with a heat index of 600, I will work on the patio. But a girl can dream can't she?.. Here are some examples of my future art studioclick the photos for the link to the site where they can be found YOU GET THE IDEA, BASICALLY I WANT a lot of windows, a huge open space, lot's of supplies, and room to work and store work. Ahhh.. the dreams of an artist..
..WITH DIGITAL ART..
I'm not an expert at creating digital art or anything, and I don't have anykind of fancy photoshop programs. But I do have a pretty extensive collection of amazing photos on Pinterest, & a badass app on my tablet called PicsArt. I've always enjoyed editing photos, dressing them up with different filters and adjusting exposure and saturation. Then that kind of turned into creating cute little pictures of my daughter, just for fun. And then it turned into trying to create references for my paintings. I almost always work from a reference. I like to anyway. And with the kind of pictures I want to create, I wind up using five to ten different references.. I thought it would be easier if I digitally created the picture I wanted to paint. But then after actually doing that, and seeing how fucking awesome the digital version of my unpainted painting was.. I developed a pretty hard crush on digital art. Don't tell Paintbrush.
All real artist can paint / draw anything they want (or anything that anyone wants) right from their head. Not gonna lie.. being a Professional Artist ain't a cake walk. So unless you have a giant sign that says HEY, BUY MY SHIT - that people actually listen to.. you may find it a little difficult depending on your art business as an only source of income. But with our powers combined.. we can save the Starving Artist club that alot of us currently belong to. Another Captain Planet metaphor, they for sure know you're a super nerd now. Damnit. My art has always been greatly influenced by music; songs I like or just happen to hear. Music creates a feeling or idea in me, and art is a way for me to express anything that's inside."I found I could say things with colors and shapes that I couldn't say any other way - things I had no words for" MYTH#1I'm an artist, so that means I am good at, and willing to help you with anything remotely artistic in the whole universe.Dream Paintings are a form of therapy for meEver sense I was very young I remember having strange, mostly scary, vivid dreams. Something else that I don't talk about with many people is that sometimes I see spirits, and experience other types of situations of the paranormal type. A way I found to deal with these situations and dreams, and in a way, relieve myself of the distress they were causing, is by painting them. I first began turning my dreams and nightmares into paintings about 8 years ago, when I started college.
